Solidarity with Immigrants & Refugees
GOAL #1 - why this ministry exists
HOLY SCRIPTURE - get from Andrew
We will follow Scripture's call to love the stranger, care for the vulnerable, and welcome the sojourner in our midst. (Leviticus 19:34, Matthew 25:35)
OUR MISSION
Our Solidarity with Immigrants and Refugees (SIR) ministry calls us to do the work that embodies this baptismal promise. We believe treating others differently based on skin color, religious affiliation, gender orientation, disabilities, or their country of birth is discriminatory, disrespectful, and unjust. We commit to work toward justice.
OUR BAPTISMAL COVENANT
We will strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being. (The Book of Common Prayer)

Goal 2 - Assistance to resistance
Our story
OUR STORY
In 2019, St. Margaret’s initiated a ministry called Desert Support for Asylum Seekers, offering assistance to immigrants seeking a better life in the U.S. In 2025, a major US political, social, cultural, and legal transformation led to the expansion of St. Margaret’s immigration ministry. The flow of migrants entering the U.S. has slowed and nearly ceased. In addition, the current U.S. policies, using armed federal forces, aim to deport thousands of immigrants, most of whom have been in the U.S. and living productive, uplifting lives. St. Margaret’s has responded to this transformation by expanding its ministry with immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees to include a ministry of resistance.
