St. Margaret’s offers a very informal celebration of Holy Eucharist without music on Saturday nights at 5 p.m. between October and April. (in some years, including 2013 and 2014, the service starts in November.) The congregation gathers in the south transept of the main church. (The service was moved from the north to the south transept in November 2014.) The service is not offered when Christmas Eve falls on a Saturday, or on the Eve of Easter Day.
St. Margaret’s is grateful for the volunteer service of Ushers, Readers, and Eucharistic Ministers for the Saturday Night Eucharist. To volunteer, please call the parish office at (760) 346-2697 and speak to Debby.
Volunteer worship ministers are scheduled using web-based software called Ministry Scheduler Pro. Schedules are released in four-month cycles covering October-January, February-May, and June-September. Before generating a schedule, we’ll send you an e-mail asking you to indicate your availability to serve so that we don’t unnecessarily schedule you for a time when you can’t serve. Should that happen, the software allows you to request a sub for yourself online, or to accept sub requests for others.
Because the roles of the volunteer worship ministers is much simpler at the Saturday night Eucharist than in other contexts, we do not require or offer formal training, but the priest will be happy to review your role with you ahead of the service if you arrive about a half hour early. You can find additional information about the roles and responsibilities of volunteer worship ministers here:
