The Vestry has called the Reverend Lane Goodwin Hensley to be the sixth Rector of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church.

Lane HensleyFirst posted on May 30, 2010

The cross on the hill above us has long served as a beacon in the desert calling visitors and neighbors alike to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church. In addition, it holds a soft spot in our hearts as a symbol of our family at St. Margaret's, our shared faith and our many ministries throughout the valley. Never has the cross been as radiant as it is today!

After a long and arduous search, guided spiritually and with the infinite knowledge of our Bishop James Mathes and the resources of the Diocese of San Diego, the Vestry has unanimously agreed to the recommendation from the Calling Committee and with one voice we are thrilled to announce

The Reverend Lane G. Hensley

has accepted the call from St. Margaret's Episcopal Church to be its' Sixth Rector effective July 15, 2010.

Lane, his wife Becky and twin 12 year old children are making the preparations to move from Palos Park, Illinois to Palm Desert! Lane is a graduate of Duke University with a Bachelors Degree in Religion, received his MDiv degree from Seabury Seminary in Evanston, IL and has been serving as Rector of Church of the Transfiguration in Palos Park, IL. Lane has business and organizational expertise in addition to his ministry specialties of Church Growth and Development, Administration, Outreach/Social Justice advocate, Christian Formation/Education, Teaching and Leadership Development. His credentials are the most outstanding of the more than 164 candidates that have been reviewed and interviewed by our Calling Committee and I know you will join the Vestry in saying that they have found the best of the best!

It is indeed a new day for St. Margaret's and I know you will join in the cheers of joy that are ringing throughout our valley and we know our part time folks are joining in the chorus from where they have returned! There will be many more opportunities to get to know Lane before his arrival. Stay tuned, it promises to be an exciting start!

Most Sincerely,

Karel K. Lambell
Sr. Warden For Members of the Vestry and the Calling Committee
