The initial meeting of Daughters of the King, St. Margaret in the Desert Chapter, was held at the home of Joyce Dash on Tuesday August 28, 2012. Following a light lunch, founding committee Chair Alice Sleight and Co-chair Joyce Dash with members Sandy Mohney and Jan Van Putten agreed upon the general goals and objectives for the initial year of operation. It was determined that the mission of the chapter will be prayer, service and evangelism. In the furtherance of this mission, the agenda for the initial year of existence emphasized the importance of expanding membership in the organization.
This is to be accomplished by developing a list of persons who have expressed an interest in becoming members of DOK and have them participate in selected activities during the year. Some activities are as follows; knitting prayer shawls, collecting Lenten meditations, book study, Stations of the Cross, Labyrinth workshops and any duties as assigned by the Rector.
