Sunday Services At St. Margaret's give glory to God - bring a friend
At 7:45 am -- A spoken service of Holy Communion using the Prayer Book Rite I. Members of our Music Ministry assist congregational singing during the Liturgy of the Word and provide instrumental, and vocal meditations during Communion. Nursery Care is available.
At 9:00 am -- A "Contemporary and Casual" Service of Holy Communion using the Service Outline for Holy Communion in the Book of Common Prayer (pages 400-401). Our Youth Choir, led by Mrs. Julie Holmes and accompanied by Mr. Tom Barker, assists the congregation in singing. This highly interactive service will also feature dramatic presentations prepared by our youth (and "young thinking adults") in the "Acting out the Gospels" class (offered on Sunday mornings from 9:45 -10:30 am). Children who attend Kid's Word (beginning at 9 am in the Chapel) are reunited with their parents for the Great Thanksgiving Prayer and Holy Communion. Nursery Care is available.
At 10:30 am -- This service of Holy Communion using Rite II is accompanied by congregational singing led and supported by our Adult Choir. Children who attend Kid's Word (beginning at 10 am in the Chapel) are reunited with their parents for the Great Thanksgiving Prayer and Holy Communion. On the first Sunday of most months "First Sunday Music" featuring our Adult Choir accompanied by various artists will further grace worship at this Service. Nursery Care is available.
Also at 10:30 am -- Kid's Word. Kid's Word is a Liturgy of the Word designed to encourage kids to encounter their natural desire to worship God, and to assist them in developing the language of worship and prayer--reader and non-reader alike.
Saturday evening Service now features prayers and anointing for healing
St. Margaret's Saturday evening service is changing. We resume September 8th at 5:30 pm (one half hour later than last year). Also, in response to requests for a variety of worship opportunities at St. Margaret's the Saturday night service will now include prayers and anointing for healing.
Healing in body, mind, and spirit, can be an important part of one's spiritual journey and life. It has been said that healing services open the channel of the human soul to embrace the creative power of God in our lives. Come to St. Margaret's on Saturday evening for the Word of God, Holy Communion, and healing.

What is a Verger?
You may have noticed that beginning in December 2006 at the 10:00 am Service a "new minister" began showing up, called a Verger. Many have asked what is a Verger. The following answer is from a very informative website presented by the Vergers' Guild of the Episcopal Church. I am grateful for the ministry of our 2 Vergers at our large services. I expect that others will be called to this ministry. I rejoice in what God is doing at St. Margaret's as together we seek to know Christ and to make Christ known. --Father Dan
A verger is a committed lay minister within the Church who assists the clergy in the conduct of public worship, especially in the marshaling of processions. Vergers can be full-time or part-time, paid or volunteer. Their duties can be purely ceremonial or include other responsibilities, such as parish administration, leadership of the worship committee, or sexton. He/She can serve in many capacities throughout the church; i.e.: Verger, Sexton, Chalice Bearer, Lay Reader, Usher, Protector of the Procession, Doorkeeper, Grave Digger, Master of Ceremonies. The Office of Verger dates back to the Middle Ages when the Verger was the "Protector of the Procession". He leads the Procession into the Church or Cathedral, clearing the way for the Procession and protecting it from vagabonds and animals that tried to attack it. Today, in many churches and cathedrals, you will see a Verger ceremonially leading the Procession. The Verger wears a gown and carries a Virge (staff of Office) to help clear the way, and point the way for the procession.
