Dress Code Guidelines

During the hottest months, shorts are approved for boys to wear for Chapel.

Only sweaters, sweatshirts, and polo shirts with the SMES embroidered crests may be worn at school.

In colder weather, SMES baseball jackets and hooded fleece jackets may be worn and removed in the classroom, as the teacher directs.

The SMES emblem is to be sewn on the left side of the sweater with the bottom of the crest parallel to the bottom of the V (when the sweater is buttoned) and one-and-a-half inches from the edge of the binding.

For active play, girls must wear bike shorts under jumpers and skirts.  Non-uniform clothing must not be visible during normal classroom activities.

All hems of skirts and shorts must be an appropriate length.

Appropriate hats and caps may be worn for sun protection during outside activities at school.

All students will be expected to remove their hats/caps indoors.

No make-up, tattoos, extreme hair color/styles, colored nail polish, sunglasses or other jewelry is permitted at school.

Females may wear a plain stud earring in the lower lobes of their ears.

SMES is not responsible for any valuable items, such as watches, that are worn to school.

Dress code referrals will be sent home when a student is in violation of uniform policy.  Frequent violations of the dress code will be subject to disciplinary actions.
