Our school seeks to enroll children who will benefit from the philosophy, values, and purposes of its program. The school admits students of any race, color, religion, or national and ethnic origin and does not discriminate in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, financial aid programs, and athletic or other school administered programs.
Kindergarten through 8th grade decisions on admissions are based upon the following criteria: the birthday dates for Kindergarten, personal interviews with the family and the child, information from the child’s previous school, and the applicant’s performance during screening and evaluation sessions. It is also recommended that students applying for other grades meet the age requirements for that grade.
St. Margaret's Episcopal School believes it is important for teachers to be able to focus on the individuality of their students. To this end, Kindergarten through Grade 8 class size is limited to a maximum of 20 students per classroom. Pre-Kindergarten class size is currently limited to a maximum of 20 students during a single day. After school care is currently unavailable. Our school strives to offer extra-curricular activities to various age groups throughout the year. Additional information is included below.
Further considerations in admissions: the school’s admission policies flow from the broad context of the values, traditions and tenets of the Episcopal Church, and thus, in addition to academic, developmental, and personal qualifications, the Admission Committee may consider a number of other factors. These include whether the applicant’s parents/guardians are members in good standing of the Parish of St. Margaret’s, enrolling siblings of families who have been actively involved in the school, and increasing the School’s diversity of racial, cultural, religious, and economic groups. None of these factors should be considered as a guarantee of automatic acceptance into the school. Final decisions are made by the Headmaster.
