Frequently Asked Questions:
What do I do with my babies and preschoolers during church services?
Children are, of course, welcome to stay in church at all three church services with their parents; however we also provide a nursery service for families who do not feel that is the best option for their worship experience. Our nursery can service children up to the age of preschool (4 years old). Kindergarteners are encouraged to attend Kid's Word.
My 3 or 4 year old does not just want to play with babies. Does he or she get anything out of the nursery?
Our nursery attendants use a curriculum specifically for preschool children. This curriculum includes a bible story, written for a preschool audience, a craft, an activity, and songs to help you child begin to grow in the Christian faith.
Where are the babies during the teaching?
We try to engage all the children in listening and experiencing the stories. While smaller children may not sit still or seem as attentive, they are absorbing pieces of the stories. Activities are designed to allow children to play in ways that reinforces the story’s plot and meaning so that every child leaves with a message.
Is the 5 year old limit a hard and fast rule?
We recognize that not all children develop at the same pace. Kid's Word might be too difficult for your five year old and they may need one more year in the preschool curriculum. Perhaps your 3 or 4 year old really wants to try Kid's Word. In that case, we encourage you to come down with your child and see how they respond to participating in the worship service. We are flexible in that all children should be in the environment that best suit their needs. By first grade, however, children are much larger and play differently than the toddlers and babies. To provide the safest environment for all the children, we have determined that by 1st grade children need to be trying Kids Word or worshiping in church with their parents.
