The Children's Program
Who is The Children's Program for?
The Children's Program is for kids between Pre-School and 5th grade. They can be members of St. Margaret's School, the parish or just kids from the community who are looking for a place to have fun a learn about Christianity.
When is it?
The Children's Program meets every Wednesday from 3:00 - 5:00 on the Lee Playground (the grassy area with a basketball court between Karns Hall and the Administration building).
What happens at The Children's Program?
We play outside for the first hour. Various sports get started; basketball and volleyball are both very popular with the kids. Around 4PM we break up into classrooms. Pre-K and Kindergarten meets in the Pre-K room, 1st and 2nd meets in Lee 4 and 3rd-5th grade walks down to the Family Resource Room (also called Kid's Word) and have a light snack. We read a bible story or two that come from the following Sunday's readings in the Episcopal Church's Common Lectionary Cycle. We discuss the themes of the story and do a few activities or crafts that help reinforce these themes. We end every week in prayer, giving every child the chance to add any thanksgivings or concerns they have. Parents are asked to sign their children out.
Who helps with The Children's Program
Our main volunteers are excited Middle and High School Students that come to lead games and help encourage discussion. We are always interested in new volunteers. Anyone interested in helping with the program should contact Shivaun in the Youth and Families Ministries office.
