Acolytes
What is acolyting?
Serving as an acolyte means that you help to make the service run smoothly. At the beginning levels of acolytes, you mostly serve in the processions, at the beginning and end of the service. As you move through the ranks, however, you become a vital member of the altar team. You help prepare the altar for communion. If there has been an oversight by a member of the altar guild, LEMs or priests, you are directed to go and solve the problems. The best acolytes are ones that never show the congregation that there is a problem. In the top ranks of our acolyte program, you have the opportunity to preside (lead) the Kid's word service, be a chalice bearer, and a lay Eucharistic minister.
How old must I be to acolyte?
The beginning rank, novice, of our acolyte program is open to third graders.
