The little things? The little moments?
They aren't little.
Jon Kabat-Zinn in
Word for
the Day
Even after all this time the sun never says to the earth, "You
owe Me." Look what happens with a love like that, it lights the
whole sky.
— Hafiz from The Gift -- translated by Daniel Ladinsky
As the "Christmas Season" with all its
craziness deepens, as the pace quickens the closer we get to
December 25th, make time for each other, make time for "little
things" and "little moments."
Pause in the busyness to compliment
(especially if you most want to complain).
Pause to say a simple thank you (for
baking, for shopping, for arranging for the party, for cleaning,
for emptying the trash or picking up the clothes or watching the
kids, for looking so nice, or for just "being there").
Even the little thing of simply holding
each other and feeling each other breathe, slowing your
breathing to be in sync (even if for 30 seconds before the next
crisis demands your attention), even this is not little.
Let your love be like the sun. Let it
light up your
"whole world" (not just the sky). Let it light up your
relationship. And not just light, let the warmth of your love be
another gift to those around you this Christmas Season.
