Let Your Light Shine
 

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won't feel unsure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. As we let our own Light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

At St. Margaret's parish we begin the "public" phase of our Capital Campaign today; "Let Your Light Shine" is the theme of our efforts. Some of you reading this are members, some are not. All of us however are called within our marriages and within our humanity to let God's light shine through us.

Let the words of Marianne Williamson inspire you to encourage each other "to make manifest the glory of God that is within [you]." God has indeed gifted you in remarkable ways; let that light shine, for this is the teaching, the exhortation, the example of our brother, friend, and redeemer, Jesus:

"Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven." NRSV
