Come, Holy Spirit...

Today, May 15, 2005, is the Day of Pentecost

But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law.
Galatians 5:22-23

As you consider the gift of the Holy Spirit consider the action of the Spirit in your life. Consider your role in accepting the gift, or more actively, consider your role in inviting the Spirit to come and be your guide, your wisdom, your inspiration.

I have attached a short essay by Max Lucado. "The Choice" is a morning prayer. "The Choice" is a good habit for beginning a day. Some of you have seen this before; I find reminders to be helpful, I hope you do, too. The gift to empower the kind of living hoped for, longed for, in the prayer, is a gift given to each of us: The Holy Spirit.

Let the prayer by Lucado inspire your own prayer. For those of you who like to write, how would you re-write the prayer? What examples of joy, of goodness, of self-control would you choose? Those of you who walk or run daily, let the fruit(s) of the Holy Spirit guide your thoughts along the way and inform your actions throughout the day.
